Paralympic Contingent once again
The ATHENS 2004 Paralympic Games are second only to the Olympic Games in their magnitude. Approximately 4,000 athletes from 145 nations will travel to Greece to show the world what they are capable of achieving - representing their countries in 19 Paralympic sports.
More than 2,000 journalists, photographers and broadcasters will also be in Athens, trying to capture the emotion of the Paralympics, and reporting it to all corners of the earth.
Athletes, media and spectators will be welcomed to this event at the Opening Ceremony on 17 September 2004. The journey to the Paralympics begins on 9 September 2004 with the Paralympic Torch Relay.
